Below are some of my favorite running websites, blogs, and resources.
Runner’s World – The website for the popular running magazine. A great resource for articles, product reviews, training plans, forums, and videos.
USA Track and Field Running Routes – This is an excellent tool to either find a good running route that somebody else has created or to create and map your own running route. Map your route from anywhere in the US down to the hundredth of a mile. I have used this countless times to create different routes from my home or nearby park or mountain.
Marathon Guide – If I’m looking for a marathon to run, this is the place I go first. Their calendar lists all the marathons in the world by date with links to their websites.
Racevine – Before you register for a race, check out the reviews on Racevine. You’ll find reviews of the race itself from other runners, plus all the details on the “nitty gritty”: were there enough porta potties, how is the schwag, etc. And it is very easy to write your own reviews.
Cool Running Pace Calculator - Want to find out your pace of that long run, figure out how far you ran based on your estimate pace, or calculate your splits? This is a great tool to do that.
Podrunner – If you like to run to music, check out this podcast by DJ Steve Boyett. Each episode is a one hour long techno mix that holds the same beat throughout. Once to you determine your ideal BPM, you can download dozens of mixes to run to. As a reference, the 172 BPM mixes hold me at a pace between 8:00 and 8:20 (depending on the length of my stride. I’m 5’4″.). I listened to my favorite mix on repeat during my last marathon and set a new PR and I blame it all on the music!
Run Like A Mother – This is a great website for running moms. It’s a cross between a blog and an online running community created by Running World contributing authors Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea. The website is based on their book Run Like a Mother, a great read if you have time to fit in a book.
This Mother Can Run – An online running moms’ magazine written for and by running moms. Sign up on the homepage and you’ll have each new issue directly delivered to your email inbox entirely free.
One More Mile - Looking for some fun running apparel? This website has shirts, stickers, and apparel with very funny running slogans. My current favorite: “One Bad Mother Runner.”
Gone for a Run – This website has some great running-related jewelry, apparel, cheering banners, and gifts. I love the Bibfolio – it’s a neat way to keep and store all your race bibs.
